Aligned Aesthetic: THE F.E.E.L. METHOD FOR DESIGNING WEBSITES WITH HEART & STRATEGY
When energy and design come together, they make a person deeply feel. And that is why I created the F.E.E.L method for designing websites. Flow, Emotion, Experience, and Lead. It blends both heart and strategy when crafting the vision, layout, and feel of a website. It allows for soul and structure, beauty and usability — guiding both the vision and the experience of your site. Let’s go through each letter of this method, why it is important, and how we use it.
Flow:
Im sure you have visited not just one, but many websites that Do.Not.Flow. You know that feeling. It feels chaotic and disorganized. It is definitely not cohesive, and it certainly is not a place you want to hang for very long.
How We Implement:
Layouts are designed with clear visual hierarchy so the eye knows where to go next.
Each section leads into the next with natural storytelling logic (intro → offer → trust → action)
I map out the journey from landing to conversion, so your audience never feels lost.
Emotion:
The heart of the method, making people emote in some way. Even when things make you angry, or something happens you may deem negative, you are still feeling. Haven’t you ever watched a TV show where you actually couldn’t stand certain characters and storylines? But you stayed and continued to watch. Why is that? The show and its characters made you feel something. Now, I am not saying your website should make people mad, but I am saying it should impact how someone feels in that very moment, as that is why users will stay on your website. The biggest thing you want to avoid making people feel, is boredom.
How We Implement:
I choose color palettes that evoke emotion (soft, earthy, romantic, etc.).
Fonts are paired to reflect your energy; for example, handwritten script for warmth.
Each photo, word, and visual is chosen with the emotional tone of your brand in mind.
The copy is written or guided to sound like a real conversation, not robotic or cold.
My goal is for someone to land on your site and say, “something about this just feels right.”
Experience:
The user experience, or UX in industry terms, is the journey a person is taken on by your website. Do they know where to go in order to complete the goal they came there to do? Maybe they didn’t know what their goal was, so did you make it clear what their options may be?
How We Implement:
Calls to action are placed strategically and sparingly, so there’s always a clear “next step.”
Every page has a purpose, whether it’s to inform, connect, or convert, and that purpose is obvious.
Sites are mobile-optimized and tested across devices, so no one gets stuck.
Visitors feel guided, not pushed. It should feel natural to move through the customer journey, not salesy.
Lead:
Position yourself as a trusted leader in your industry, even if you are just beginning. That’s right, I’m looking at you with your imposter syndrome. Ever talk to someone who just evoked confidence so you believed everything they said, and you later found out they were wrong? That is the power of the energy with which you speak and present yourself.
How We Implement:
We use confident, clear headings and intentional language to directly speak with your audience effectively.
We place testimonials or credentials in spots where they’ll be seen without feeling boastful.
The design includes space for signature offers, frameworks, or philosophies (like F.E.E.L!)
Your voice is present throughout, so the brand feels deeply you.
You don’t have to wait until you “feel ready” to show up as a leader. The design does some of that work for you.
These powerful steps will help anyone create a website that is not only beautiful and heart-led, but strategic in attracting and keeping the right audience. Let me know what you think :)
